14 years earlier, Yates died of a heroin overdose when Peaches was 11 years old .

" Children who experience premature death his parents before his teenage years , can have all sorts of psychiatric problems , " says psychologist Michael Carr - Gregg . " That experience can also make the child experiencing pathological grief when he could not cope with the serious loss .

"Research shows , a sense of loss as a child can increase the likelihood of substance abuse , criminal behavior and low achievement in school . 

Dr Carr - Gregg said while children under the age of five years was unable to understand the generality and certainty of a death , then when the adult the child will become a person who is much more fragile . 

" During adolescence you are deprived of your parents and it creates turbulence . If a parent dies suddenly at a time when you were weaned from them , the child will feel guilty and confused " . 

" Grief as a teenager is a very disturbing process . They do not grieve like adults and they need a lot of support to get through . These children grow faster as a result of the experience . " 

Beyondblue chief executive , Kate Carnell , said the sudden death of a parent at the " critical transition age " can lead to mental health problems , panic attacks and post- traumatic stress disorder may be .

" Often children experience a high level of guilt and asked if they could change anything . " In 2012 , Peaches Geldof assessed difficulty and poignant by the tragic and sudden death of his mother . 

" I remember the day in which my mother died , and it remains difficult to talk about. I went to school the next day because my father mentally calm and survive , " he said once . 

The 25-year -old woman has also been admitted deeply influenced by his parents' divorce in 1996 and revealed how he was taking drugs during his teenage years were turbulent .

" The worst thing that happened to me stems from my parents' divorce , it really affects my life , " he said .

The late been admitted to a psikiatrsis in 1998 that he was depressed and had attempted suicide two months later which caused him to lose custody of her children . 

Dr Carr - Gregg said children with parents who were depressed were four times more likely to experience a mental disorder and had a 40 percent chance of experiencing depression when moved to the age of 20 years .

" If both parents are depressed then you have a 50 percent chance of experiencing depression , " he said as he told his son to inherit his parents' mental illness .

But he said not all children are destined to repeat the genetic parents .

" Depending on one's temperament and how much support . Enough we can build resilience ourselves . Even if you come from a background of misery you can replace those conditions . "
